Welcome to Manna Ministries Worldwide

Here at Manna Ministries, our mission is to link human needs, both physical and spiritual, with the resources necessary to satisfy those needs while uniting people through the love of Christ.

Our Foundational Pillars

Sharing God’s Word of love and salvation – the spirit;
Educating children – the mind;
Improving health – the body;
Generating opportunity – with dignity.

Manna Ministries Worldwide, although still in its early stages, has begun a number of initiatives that are helping our partners change lives around the world. Praise God for how He has worked through our donors, friends, board members and volunteers to bless Manna Ministries in 2013!

Scriptural Mandates

Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. Isaiah 1:17

Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God. He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—he remains faithful forever. He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless. Psalm 146:5-9

The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings. Isaiah 58:11-12

Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Psalm 82:3

Statement of Faith

GOD

We believe the LORD God, as revealed in the Bible, is the one and only living and true God. (Gen 1 and 2; Deut 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-12; Psalm 135:5; Ex 3:14; Eph 4:6).

God reveals Himself to us in the Trinity as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each equal in His nature, essence, and being, yet each possessing distinct personal characteristics suitable to His person and work (Matt 28:19; John 14: 9-10, 26, 16: 12-15, 17:11; 2 Cor 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2).

He is Creator and sustainer of all things, visible and invisible, physical and spiritual. (Gen 1; Heb 11:3; Psalm 104; Col 1:16-17; Rom 1: 20).

God has a purpose and plan for all things in heaven and on earth which will be accomplished according to His eternal decrees for His glory. (Isaiah 46:10-13; Eph 1:3-5,11, 2:10; Matt 24:35).

THE BIBLE

We believe the Holy Bible to be the only inspired, inerrant, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is completely sufficient concerning all matters of belief and living (Prov 30:5; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Deut 8:18; Heb 4:12; 2 Tim 3:16-17).

Nothing is to be added to or taken away from the Scriptures in any way, such as new revelation or traditions of men. (Deut 12:32; Rev 22:18-19; Gal 1:8).

SALVATION

Man’s Need

We believe that, in the beginning, all God’s creation, including mankind, was good. Mankind, male and female, were righteous, walking closely with God. Mankind fell from that position of fellowship with God into disgrace, deserving condemnation to Hell, through sin. Everyone has inherited this sinful nature and are spiritually dead in their sin. (Gen 1, 2 and 3; Rom 3:l0-12, 5:12-21, 8:6-8; Eph 2:1-5).

God’s Provision

And this is the gospel, that Jesus Christ, being fully God and fully man, was sent by the Father and came willingly to be the only mediator between God and man. He was the Son of God, born of a virgin, and He lived a perfect life of obedience to His Father, observing all His commands and fulfilling all His purposes. In doing so, He revealed to mankind the glory, mercy, grace, and truth of God, teaching mankind the new way of life (Heb 1:1-3; John 1:14; Acts 2:36; 1 Tim 2:5; Luke 1:26-28; 1 Peter 2:21-22; John 17:4; Col 1:15-19).

Jesus Christ gave up His life by death on the cross at the hands of sinful men according to God’s sovereign purpose. Christ, being without sin, did this in order to pay God’s just penalty for sin on behalf of those who have been redeemed by the Father through their faith in Christ as Savior. Christ then rose bodily from the dead, removing the power of the curse of death from His people forever. After ascending into heaven, Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of the Father. He intercedes with the Father on behalf of His people, enabling them to live in greater obedience to Himself and therefore increasingly to reflect His image (John 3:16, 10:11-18, 14:6; Acts 2:23, 36; Rom 3:23-26; 1 Peter 1:18-21; 1 Cor 15:54-58).

After the ascension of Christ into heaven, the Holy Spirit was sent to make the Savior known. The Holy Spirit works in God’s people by making them spiritually alive, enabling them to live abundantly and freely receive the gift of eternal life, which are available through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (Acts 1:8-9; John 16:7-13; Eph 1:18-21, 2:4-8; Rom 3:21-26; Heb 7:24-25).

All who respond by faith to the gospel are adopted as children of God and are declared righteous before God. They are reconciled to God through the forgiveness of their sins by Christ’s atoning death on their behalf. Thus reconciled, believers have passed from judgment, wrath, and death to life (Rom 3:21-26, 5:9-11, 6:23; 2 Cor 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24).

Man’s Response to God’s Grace

Growth in conformity to the image and likeness of God by obedience is a vital and necessary part of the life of the believer. Thus believers will grow increasingly in the grace of God, turn from their sin, and follow Jesus Christ as Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18, 5:17; Eph 4:11-13; Rom 6:1-2, 11-14; 2 Peter 3:18).

As followers of Christ, we have been commissioned to spread the good news of salvation through Christ and to teach obedience to God’s commandments. We also have been re-created to do the good works that He has ordained for us. We demonstrate our faith in and commitment to Christ by acting justly, showing mercy, and helping the poor and oppressed. In so doing with our hearts filled with love, we fulfill Christ’s commandment that we love our fellow human beings, just as He loved us (Matt 28: 18-20; Eph 2:10; James 1:27, 2:14-26; Micah 6:8; Jerem 22:15-16; Isaiah 61:1-9; Psalm 146:6-9; Luke 4:17-21; John 13:34; 1 Cor 13:2-3).

Manna Ministries Worldwide: advancing the kingdom of God through UNITY in Christ.

Why was Manna Ministries Worldwide (MMW) founded?

Manna Ministries was founded to partner with other organizations to spread the gospel of salvation through Christ, while also improving the everyday living conditions of impoverished people around the world.

What is the primary focus of MMW?

Manna Ministries seeks to improve the spiritual, health and educational conditions of individuals, families and communities. We also hope to improve the income generating opportunities of the world’s impoverished so that they can better care for their families. We believe sustainable results in these areas can only be achieved when there is a strong belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ and a commitment to living according to His principles.

How did MMW become involved in Uganda?

We first became involved in Uganda through collaboration in the building of Rapha’s House, a home for orphans and at-risk children situated on the campus of the Mustard Seed Academy in the village of Lukaya.

What are the greatest needs in the areas that MMW serves?

Access to education, health care, clean water and the opportunity to earn income, in addition to understanding that salvation and hope are available through Jesus Christ.

How could my church or group partner with MMW?

There area many ways that we could use your support as a partner. Please contact us with your interests and how we should best contact your group. We will respond very quickly!

How is MMW connected to the Manna Café?

MMW and Manna Café have the same founders. Although the Café is a for-profit restaurant, it is viewed by its founders as an extension of the ministry through its goal of reminding its community that all good things come from God.

My Vision - God’s Reality

God’s call to move toward full-time ministry became strong in 2011. I had a remarkable dream in May of that year, one that pulsed with energy and which was unlike any dream I’ve had before or since. The dream consisted of an aerial view of a plot of land that I perceived to be in Africa (even though there were no telltale indications). On this plot of land, which had a road running diagonally through it, I saw a long rectangular building which seemed to be a dormitory, a second shorter building next to it, and a third on the other side of the road. I perceived that the other buildings could possibly be a medical clinic and perhaps a chapel.

Several months later, through the connections of our eldest daughter Carrie Emily, we agreed to fund a home for orphans and other at-risk and vulnerable children in Uganda. We were kept informed of the progress of the building of the home and, when it was nearing completion, we looked at a website which contained pictures of the house. This led to questions about where the orphan’s home, named Rapha’s House was located (note: Jehovah Rapha means “the Lord who heals”). The answer was a school called Mustard Seed Academy in the village of Lukaya. To learn more about the school, my wife Julie and I went to its website and saw the site plan for the school. It showed an array of buildings around a road, identical to the dream I had had some 10 months earlier!

This dream was the seed God planted in our minds and hearts, which has now germinated into Manna Ministries, a ministry committed to sharing God’s plan for salvation, building churches, schools and clinics, and helping families provide for themselves.
